Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose a photo?
Choose photos that were taken in good lighting.  The subject(s) of the photo need to be will lit, with minimal shadows, and in focus

Photos that you own, that were taken by a professional photographer are the best. - Screenshots, or a picture of a picture are not recommended.

I have an old damaged photo, will that be ok?
Yes, but keep in mind stray specks and marks in the photo will be picked up in the pattern image. I am not a photo restoration artist. I will remove backgrounds and clean up the photo as much as possible to make the pattern as simple as I can. However there are some photos that are just to damaged to work with. If this is the case, I will let you know.

How do know if my picture will make a good pattern?

I put all photos though an imaging process. Which will produce a mini graph. I will then send that to you for approval. We can discuss at that point the purchasing process, if any other edits can be made, or if choosing a new photo would be best.

Can my graph be in color?

I am able to produce graphs in color, and color scales
Scale colors available are - gray, brown, blue, green, pink, purple, and red

*Keep in mind yarn color does not always mimic life. Flesh tones can come though orange, yellow, and sometimes purple. If you request in color you will have to keep this in mind and adjust yarn choices accordingly

How many subjects can be in the photo?

Ideally there should be no more that two. I can work with larger groups but that will increase the size of the pattern.

How big is the pattern?

That depends on the size you are wanting to achieve with your finished project. For throws I try and keep the patterns around 200 stitches by 200 rows if the photo allows.

I want my finished project size to be a certain size, can you do that?

Approximately, if you know your individual gauge I can create a graph  as close as your size specifications as possible

As your gauge can very from day to day I can not guarantee your exact finished project size.

Do you make other graphgan patterns or just photos?
I can work with any image.

How do I send you a photo?

You can send the photo via Etsy Convo or Facebook Messenger.
I am working on having a submission area here on the website so that maybe a possibility soon

I paid another designer and never received my pattern, how do I know you won't do the same?
First, I am so sorry that this happened and unfortunately I am hearing this more and more often.

The safe guard I have in place for my customers is I will only do business through Etsy. When you are ready to purchase a pattern I will direct you to my Etsy store. This way you can be confident if you do not receive your pattern within the 48 hour window I guarantee you can open a case with Etsy to receive a refund.

What do I get when I purchase a pattern?

You get a standard graph/grid pattern, written pattern, information on how to determine much yarn you will need, and if you have any questions along the way you can always email me.

Are your patterns easy to read?

Yes! All of my patterns are very easy to read, and have a difficulty level of advanced beginner. Whether you have ever worked from a graph before or not, you will be able to follow any of my patterns.

I don't know how to crochet, can you make it for me?

Yes, I would be happy to!  Pricing for a commissioned project varies depending on size and the materials used. If you are interested in please contact me by email CrochetaMemory@yahoo.com
